How do I prevent opening a pdf document INSIDE browser (and let it save on hard disc) ?

Recently I installed AcrobatReader 8 on a couple of WinXP and Win2000 systems.
Unfortunately this installation seemed to change the opening behavior of pdf documents.

Whenever I click on a pdf link on a web page the pdf doc is now opend INSIDE InternetExplorer
(and Firefox too).

How do I reset this to the previous behavior: A dialog should popup and ask me
wether I want to open it or where (on my harddisc) it should ne saved?

Is this settings change global for WinXP and Win2000 and all browsers ?

Does this setting change affect also the FireFox browser?

Open Acrobat Reader and select Edit, Preferences. Select Internet in the
Categories and remove the check from "Display PDF in browser".

That will cause the PDF document to be open in a separate instance of
Acrobat Reader rather than hosted inside your browser.

This response sent from message seen in microsoft.public.windowsxp.general.

Hi Eugen,

After following Tom's instructions, to get the open / save prompt, follow these steps:

Click Start, Run and type Regedit.exe
Navigate to the following branch:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\AcroExch.Document.7

Backup the key by exporting it to a REG file.
In the right-pane, delete the "EditFlags" value.
Close Regedit.exe.
