When I open Wordperfect 6 in Word 2003, I get illegible characters. The
illegible characters were originally typed by me as Bulgarian Cyrillic.

Illegible or meaningless?

1. You need to convert the document from WP6 to Word. This has nothing to do
with fonts. When you open the document, select Word Perfect 6 from the
'Files of Type' drop-down on Word's Open dialog.

2. If the font you originally used is still on the computer, the cyrillic
should be no problem. If not, you'll need to install it.

When I open the WPD file, the Cyrillic characters appear in Webdings font. I
have now Cyrillic fonts on my computer. The Cyrillic fonts I used 6 years
ago were from a different programme which I now do not have.

Word cannot resolve the font display if the font is not present on your PC.

Use Find and Replace to change text in your document, currently webdings, to
your new cyrillic font.
