How do I open two files in two seperate windows?

I am trying to open two different files and then switch back and forth using
the buttons on the toolbar at the bottom of the computer screen and cannot
figure out how to set my computer to open the two documents in two separate
windows. Thanks for the help!
 
In Word 97 and earlier, you can't. In Word 2000, each document automatically
opens in a new window, and you can't change that without using VBA. In Word
2002 and 2003, click on Tools | Options | View | check the "Windows in
Taskbar" box | OK.
