how do i open a .wpd with word 2004?

my client uses Word Perfect, and i can't seem to open it with my MS Office
2004 (word). The file just show a bunch of formatting info, such as font size
and typeface.
 
It sounds like you are opening the document with the 'recover any text from
file' filter rather than the WP filter. Ensure that the WP filter is
installed.
