how do I open a file without having it run virus scan

when I try to open an excel file, it wants to run virus scan and it takes
forever to open the file. Is there a way to disable the virus scan and just
open the spreadsheet?

If you don't get a good response, you may want to share what AV program you're
using. And the version of excel, too.

In your AV application there will be settings for ignring specific file
extensions.

Disable/delete Excel files from this list.
