How do I manage System Restore and Restore Points ?

WinXP offers a built-in System Restore. I have some questions:

1.) Is this feature enabled by default in WinXP?

2.) How do I find out
- how many Restore Points are available
- when they were set ?
- who (manual or program ?) initiated originally the backup

3.) How do I find out how much space (in MB) the next System Restore Point would require on harddisc partition?

4.) Are multiple System Restore Points saved independently or is there an incremental saving?

5.) A System Restore Point is done in general manually.
But the System Backup can be initiated automatically by a program as well.
How do I prohibit programs to set a System Restore point and allow only manual setting of SRP ?

i think that lot's n lot's of your questions can be answered by "researching"
at microsoft.com There is a very large data/knowledge base of information
on win xp.

Yes, it may be somewhat inconvenient, but as they say, "teaching someone on
how to obtain answers is better than giving them"..... I think that a "thy
and thou" needs to be inserted somewhere.....

Start>All Programs>Accesssories>System Tools>System restore
There you can see the highlighted Restore Points, you can go back
up to 90 days. On the left are SRP settings, and it should be set to
a minimum of 1Gb according to PC World magazine (my bible).
You can do a DiskCleanup>more options, which will delete all but
the last restore point and then you should manually create one.
Take a look and learn what your system can do. Clean it up is
the primary maintenance to forestall disk/system crashes.
