How do I make the Table of Content link work?

Hi I have a master document and a few subdocuments associated with it. I'd
like to be able to open up the subdocument and go to the page number when I
click it on the table of content in the master document, while the
subdocuments are collapsed. Is there a way to do that? I'm using Word 2003.
any help would be appreciated.

No, this isn't supported in a master/subdocument situation. You'd have to
incorporate all the sub-documents into the master document, so that it's one
single file. Or, you'd have to program a macro solution to replace the
built-in functionality of the TOC hyperlinks.
