How do I make sure an Excel column is in Tabular Format?

I need to make sure my database columns are in tabular format in order to
import the data into access, but I'm not sure how to do that or to confirm it
is in tabular format. Can anyone explain this to me. Also, if you have any
insight on the entire process of importing data from Excel to Access please
feel free to share.
 
If you don't get a useful reply here, you may want to try one of the Access
newsgroups.

I bet there's more Access people who use excel than the reverse--but there are
lots of Access(ories??) who hang around here, too.
