How do they make lines that go completely across a page, up and down or left to right, out of one small image that repeats itself? I'd like to do this. Can someone help me learn how to do this?

Normal way is to apply the image to table cell as a background image and let it tile
- constraint the cell width/height in the direction you don't want it to tile

Now, why didn't I think of that? I've been trying to get a bg image not to tile on another part of the page. The solution to this problem was right there in front of my eyes. Thanks for help

or you can insert a transparent graphic 1x1 pixel or slightly wider and
colour the background cell, I've done this on my site. http://accessfp.net

I don't understand the purpose of the transparent image. Isn't that the same as setting the width of the cell to 1 pixel or slightly wider and setting a different background color (the color that the line should be)

If you don't use a transparent GIF in the cell, certain browsers/versions will collapse the cell
(not show it). So the norm is to use the transparent GIF image to set to actual size you want the
small cell to appear as.
