How do I make an exception for a recurring meeting?

So I have a recurring meeting every Friday -- except when there is no school.
When I try to delete the meeting on no-school days, it deletes the whole
Friday meeting sequence.

When you attempt to delete a recurring meeting, Outlook should ask if you
want to delete the series or just the occurrence. It does for me.
