PowerPoint does not have the ability to fade out an audio. The best
solution, assuming the song is to fade out at a certain section (such as the
end), is to open the song in a sound editing application and fade out the
audio. Save and re-insert into presentation. If you need software to
accomplish Goldwave is a fairly robust sound editing application you can
download and use (it is shareware): www.goldwave.com

Hello,

PowerPoint does not have the level of audio playback control that you are
looking for for inserted sounds. Instead, the sound would have to be edited
in some other audio editing program which provides this capability before
the sound is inserted into PowerPoint.

However, a very cool option in PowerPoint 97 is the Custom Soundtrack
add-in. The PowerPoint Custom Soundtrack Add-in allows you to add
electronically-generated background music to your slide shows and one of
it's options is to have music it generates end gracefully (not quite the
same as fade out). You can install this add-in from the following folder on
the Office 97 compact disc:

<drive>:\ValuPack\MusicTrk

If you (or anyone else reading this message) have suggestions as to how
PowerPoint improve it's options for controlling the playback of audio (such
as fade in/out), don't forget to send your feedback to Microsoft at:

http://register.microsoft.com/mswish/suggestion.asp

As with all product suggestions, it's important that you not just state
your wish but also why it is important to you that your product suggestion
be implemented by Microsoft. Microsoft receives thousands of product
suggestions every day and we read each one but, in any given product
development cycle, there are only sufficient resources to address the ones
that are most important to our customers so take the extra time to state
your case as clearly and completely as possible.

IMPORTANT: Each submission should be a single suggestion (not a list of
suggestions)
