How do I make a new contact from an email?

This is a continuation of another thread but I thought I'd start a new one due to the new subject.. The original thread is:
'How do I keep track an email conversation?'

I want to start tracking my emails and have made a sub folder of Contacts and called it 'Prospects'.

When someone sends me an email, I want to make this person a contact in the prospects subfolder.

The only way I know how to do this is to go to the prospects subfolder and create a new contact the conventional way.

Now is this the only way to do it or is there a shortcut I can use when I'm in the email section of outlook?

Show the Folder List in the Navigation Pane (left side chunk of Outlook)
Go to Inbox
Drag the email to the Prospects Folder. Release.
A new Contact has just been created in that Folder.
Highlight, drag and drop details from the sender's signature block to the
relevant field location eg phone numbers.
Save and Close.

Thanks Judy,

Last question I think..

Once I made the new contact, how do I assign an all day event with this contact and have this all day event appear in the activities tab of the contact?

It seems that I can only select 'Meeting' from the contact form and then I can set up an all day event in that, but it wants to send an email and I don't want to do that.

Only other option seems to be from again, the meeting form where I can select 'calendar' and use that to make up an all day event, but then it won't sync it with the contact's activities.

So to sum up, I want to be able to make an all day event from this contact in my calendar and have it show up in the contact's activities tab and I don't want to send the contact an email in the process. .

Sorry for all these questions :)

In 2007 the linking of items to Contacts is turned OFF by defualt (don't
blame me).

So the first step is to turn it on. Tools | Options | Contact Options | show
contact linking on all forms.

To do what you want, make a new meeting/event whetever and use the Contact
button in the new item to link to your Contact.

That way it doesn't send an invitation to them, but does link to their
Activities tab.
