How do I keep update line when deleting text?

I am using tracked changes in a document so users can "see" what has been
changed. The only problem is if I delete text the update line next to the
text is also deleted. This means that the user cannot "see" that a change has
taken place within the text.

Is there anyway of keeping the update line when text is being deleted?

If Track Changes is still enabled when you delete the text containing a change,
the change line will appear next to the text that follows the deleted part.

The only time the change line disappears completely is if you turn off Track
Changes before you delete the text containing the tracked change. You can either
turn Track Changes on again before deleting, or you can use the line tool in the
drawing shapes to fake a change line.
