How do I keep attachments with an e-mail when I hit "reply"

I receive an e-mail with an attachment. When I hit "reply" the attachment
goes away. Is there a way to keep the attachment with the e-mail?

Press Forward instead. It is implied that the original sender still has the
file that he/she has sent to you.

Why does the original sender need back the file that THEY gave you?
They already have the file. That's how they managed to attach it so you
could get a copy of it.

it really has nothing to do if the original person needs the attachement
back - There could be five more e-mails back and forth with other people
getting included along the way to discuss the attached document and also keep
an electronic paper trail and that includeds the attachment - For example in
my office if my boss sends me an e-mail and copies 10 other people and
includes an attachment, if i want to respond to him and include all the other
people and the original attachment (so there is a trail) I can't do it. And
if you hit forward you keep the attachement but lose all the addresses on the
orginal e-mail. This is actually a big problem in my office - So if I
understand correctll there is no way to reply and keep the attachment

There's another example I run into all the time. Someone sends me an email
with an Excel or Word Attachment that they want me to fill in information on,
correct or comment on. I want to open the attachment, do the corrections,
hit save and then Reply with the attachment still attached.

I believe it to be ill-advised to make changes that way. Save the
attachment to disk, make the changes, reply, and attached the changed
document.

I agree this is not how you would modify an attachment to send back.
HOWEVER, there should be an option to reply with the attachment
Yes the sender has the attachment but what if I am replying to them but
ccing someone else. Also, it would be much easier for the sender of the
attachment to just open the one on my reply and refresh themselves on what
the email is about than to have to search their folders for it. I truly
can't believe this is not a standard option for replying.

If you open the reply to all email, you can drag and drop the
attachment from the original email in your inbox. It doesn't show you
clearly you 'have it', but you can drag and drop it into the reply to all
email.
