How do I keep a "read" message in the inbox to read again?

Each time I open an e-mail to read and then close it Outlook apparently sends
the massage to the deleted items box. I want the e-mail to stay in the inbox
so I can read it again if necessary.

Are you seeing the read email in the Deleted Items folder or is it simply
disappearing from your view?

If it's disappearing from your view after you read it, ensure your view is
set to Messages (View > Current View) rather than Unread Messages.
