How do I keep a PowerPoint presentation from being modified?

I made a PowerPoint presentation at a Conference and have been asked to share
it with others...but don't want to risk them altering slides or making
changes to my data. How can I "lock" the PowerPoint before sharing it?

The PowerPoint format is not an ultra secure one. You can add a password
that will keep novices from being able to modify the presentation, but you
can not keep a motivated hacker from getting to your content.

The best method would be to flatten the slides as much as possible (to
maintain presentability) , then use something like PDF output to share
completed slide images only.

Remember, if I can display it, I can copy it. If you want to keep it
secure, don't share the source document.

In PowerPoint 2007, click the office botton, Prepare, Mark as Final.
Then the PowerPoint cannot be modified.

All the recipient has to do is choose Prepare | Mark as Final again to
unmark it, though.

Mark as Final is just an administrative / notation feature, not a security
feature.
