How do I insert a link into an outgoing e-mail message (Outlook)?

To whom? Sending such a link to an external addres is fairly pointless,
since only others on your network could have any hope of accessing the
original file. Is the document on a network share?

Try the format <\\server\folder\folder\folder\file.ext>, including the
inequality signs on the front and back.
