How do I increase the lengh of a cell which contains numbers

Make the entire column wider.

I won't mention the other option which is to merge a couple of adjacent
cells.

I gave you two options.

Which one is "that"?

Wider..............drag the column header wider or Format>Column>Autofit
Selection

Merge cells...................select A1 and B1 and Format>Cells>Merge

Or hit the Merge cells Icon on the formatting toolbar.
