How do I increase the icon size in XP's Start Menu shortcuts andfolders?

I changed the icon size from 32x32 pixels to 48x48 pixels. I only see
the sizes change in main Start Menu, taskbar icons (not system tray
icons), and desktop.

How can I change the icon size for Start Menu shortcuts and folders? I
am using Windows XP Professioal SP1 (all updates; 1 GB of RAM).

One way is to change your video resolution. Higher resolutions
result in smaller icons on the desktop and start menu. Lower
resolutions produce larger icons.

Thanks. I am trying to avoid going lower than 1152x864 resolution. I
need all the desktop space! I do love the icons though and wished they
were a bigger in Start Menu.

Right click the Start Menu, select Properties. Check Large icons box.

You can go to Control Panel - Display and click Advanced on the
Appearance page. There select Caption Buttons and change size. This
also affects the size of icons in the Taskbar tray - and the Task bar
with them. And note that it also controls the size of the
'Maximise/minimise/close' buttons on all windows

Yeah, I noticed. Crap, there has to be a way just to tweak icon sizes in
system tray and Classic Start Menu only. Big buttons are annoying. Any
registry hacks?

on desktop, system tray, and Start Menu folders and shortcuts. I was
trying to make the icons big like you see in MacOS X.

OK, I gave up! I can't handle using 40 pixels for caption buttons. I was
using Registry Editor and Device Manager, and their icons were so big! I
wonder if there is a freeware replacement or addon for Windows XP. Are
there any?
