How do I import Contacts from Outlook in XP?

K

Ken

Can anyone tell me how to transfer my Outlook contacts from my old XP
computer to Windows Contacts on my new Vista computer? The Contacts file
that I created from Outlook is a PST file and this does not seem to be
readable by anything on my new Vista computer. Outlook does not seem to
give me an option of exporting to a comma or tab delimited file, which Vista
Mail gives as a possible import option.

I assume other people have done it and that it is easy when you know how.

Windows Mail cannot import a .pst file unless Outlook is installed on the
Vista computer.

You can install Outlook, copy the .pst to the Vista computer, open the .pst
with Outlook, then you can import into Windows Mail.

Or,
In Outlook, export the contacts to a CSV file.
File - Import and Export - Export to a file - Comma Separated Value
(Windows)

Or,
If you have Outlook installed on an XP computer, import the .pst data into
Outlook Express, copy the .dbx files (messages) and .wab file (contacts) to
the Vista computer,
and import into Windows Mail.
