how do i import a template?

i have created a template in illustrator converted to a .png and have
attempted use it as a word template by using it as an imported image and
saving it as a .dot. however it behaves as an image would and moves to the
second page of my document when does or if i insert a page break. how can i
import a template and have it behave like a template should? any help much
appreciated.
 
You'd be better off asking this in a newsgroup related to Word.

This newsgroup is for questions about Access, the database product that's
part of Office Professional.
