I am trying to import an old file that I wrote in Lotus Word Pro into
Microsoft Word. Any help in this endevor will be greatly appreciated.
You have several options. These range from the most preferable to the
least preferable:
1. Dig out your old SmartSuite disk, run it from the CD (or reinstall
if you think this will be a recurring issue), reopen the file in Word
Pro, and save as Microsoft Word.
2. By a new SmartSuite disk. Resellers like tekdeal.com have a fairly
recent version available for a remarkably inexpensive price. Remember
that the most recent the version the better the conversion filters to
Word. Go 9.8 if possible. (IBM is now on 9.8.2)
3. Download a Verity Key Viewer to view the Word Pro file, then cut and
paste into Word. This viewer is said to be somewhere on the IBM/Lotus
web site, but I was unable to find it. You should be able to find it
somewhere, though.
4. If you did not enable the "small file size" option in Word Pro, then
open the file directly in Word 2002+ by using as a file type "Recover
data" or something to that effect. You will get a lot of code, but in
there somewhere will also be the text from the Word Pro document. (If
you saved it in small file format in Word Pro, this won't work.)
Good luck.
