How do I go to Outlook Today without messing up my shortcuts?

I want Outlook (2003) to load Outlook Today at startup. I also want to be
able to go onto Outlook Today by clicking on a link. I know where the links
are but if I push it, every time I click on the mail shortcut on the
navigation pane, it takes me to Outlook Today. I don't want this! I'd even
like a Outlook Today shortcut in the navigation pane.

Also, how do I make Outlook start-up on Outlook Today?

Tools->options->other->advanced... when starting Outlook...
