I am the only peron using this computer, yet, when I try to do certain things
my access is denied.
Q: How do I get full access to my system?

Janice, you have to change to the Admin Group if you are not there
already. To do this check here
Go to Help and Support>System Administration>Passwords and User
Accounts>Under Pick a Task choose Change the Group a User belongs to.
Click on the + next to Computer on Domain or Computer not on Domain.
Check here for how to Log on as a Admin.

You don't log-on as 'you' you log-on as the Administrator.

If you are the only user and you installed XP then you should also be in the
system as 'you' an Administrator - and you should have full access to do
everything and there should be no restrictions. So, did you install XP? And
did you create any restrictions?

I know not how and have not looked into the why,
xp home sp2 slipstream/format/installed on a laptop ended up with 'default'
as the only user/admin and denied me access to several things, yet not all.
Added a password for default then could access everything. But applied
logic and made a username/password then the welcome screen quit showing the
Administrator & Default user login choices and now only shows the one user
myName. Shrug.

Anyhow if I were Janice I would login safe mode as Administrator and make
Janice a user/admin account
