How do I get the thumbnails on the design toobar to display?

I'm trying to select a design template for my powerpoint presentation. In the
window beneath where it says "select a design template" nothing shows up. The
window is equally blank for applying a slide layout, but it does show up for
the color scheme. Does anyone know how to make the thumbnails show up?

But also, could you tell us what happens when you click on the browse link
at the bottom of the task pane? What location does it go to and can you
preview the templates in that window?

And one final question, do you remeber when this started happening?

As well as all Glenna said, someone recently said that clearing a powerpoint
file that was lurking waiting to be burnt to CD cured her problem.

Do report back as this is getting to be a really worrying problem.
