How do I get started with speech recognition?

I am trying to get started with speech recognition in Word, but it doesn't
seem to be doing anything? I read and re-read the text and nothing happens? I
have checked the volume on my microphone.

Hi Cat Lady,

If the NZ in your name is referring to New Zealand that can be an issue. While Word 2002 and 2003 have Speech recognition, the
language setting they work/learn with is English (U.S.).

It's possible though that the Speech module is not installed.
In the Tools menu of Word do you have a Speech choice?
