How do I get rid of a grid in the background on a new word documen

I put this grid on when I was working on some accounting a few days ago and
now I cant get rid of it. Everytime I open a new word document it is there.

On the Drawing toolbar, choose Draw | Grid. Clear the check box for "Show
gridlines on screen."
