I began copying .pst files from a CD Rom made by exporting emails from my old
computer. After a minute or so of copying the following error messge
appears, "Cannot copy [file name]: Data error (cyclic redundancy check)."

What does this mean? Or better, what do I do about it?

A "CRC" error means that the file is corrupt. When you burn PST files to a
CDR/RW, make sure you don't burn them at a speed faster than 4x. (Also note
that some options in burning software may prohibit copying of files from
CDR/RW back to the drive. For example, Nero has an option of "Do not add
the ";1" ISO file version extension". This option needs to be checked.)

If you still have access to the old computer, can you burn the data again to
another CD at a slower speed. If not, you might try BadCopy Pro.
