How do I get Outlook to stop duplicating incoming messages?

Outlook is duplicated all incoming emails from my road runner pop server. Is
there a setting that causes this? (eg instead of getting one email from jande
doe with the subject x, I get two emails from jane do with the subject x).
This only occurs on outlook.

What version of Outlook are you using? If Outlook 2002, see if

I am having the same problem, but do not get asked for my password: every
time I open outlook 2003, all messages still on the server (2 yahoo pop
accts) get downloaded, resulting in duplicates. If I turn off 'recieve
messages' on one as per knowledge base, then I get no messages, even new
ones, from the account turned off.
