How do I get my Personal.xls to open everytime I open excel

My hard drive crashed and had to be re-done. Now I can't seem to get my
Personal.xls workbook to open when I open excel.

Any pointers?

Hi LisaK

If you have a backup copy it in the XLSTART folder

Where is it:
If it exists, you can find the file in the Excel startup folder.
C:\Documents and Settings\Ron\Application Data\Microsoft\Excel\XLSTART
In Vista look here
C:\Users\Ron\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Excel\XLSTART

Note: Ron is the username in the path above

With code you find the correct path on your machine with this line

1) Open excel
2) Hit alt-F11 to get to the VBE
3) Hit ctrl-g to see the immediate window and type this:
4) ?Application.StartupPath

You’ll see the startup path returned

And just to add to Ron's note...

If that personal.xls is in the correct location (XLStart), then maybe it's been
disabled by excel.

Open excel
Help|About MS Excel|Disabled items

If it's there, you can re-enable it. But if the file is really corrupted, you
may need to restore it from one of your backup versions.

Excel 97-2003: Help>About MS Excel>Disabled items
Excel 2007 : Office button>Excel Options..Add-ins
In the "Manage:" dropdown (bottom of the dialog)
Choose "Disabled Items
Go

I don't have xl97 or xl2k to test, but I don't remember this feature in those
versions. That doesn't mean that they're not there--but you may want to check.

Or maybe someone running xl97 and xl2k will post back with confirmation either
way????

If I remember correct i think it is 2002 that is the first version with this option
