How do I get my language bar to appear on the taskbar?

I tried all the directions in the Help section of word & nothing works -I
have it set to show so I can use my speech recognition. I tried everything
but it doesn't show on my desktop anywhere.

Are these the directions you followed?

Show the Language bar

On the Microsoft Windows Start menu, and then click Control Panel.
Click Date, Time, Language, and Regional Options.
Click Regional and Language Options, and then click the Languages tab.
Under Text services and input languages, click Details.
On the Settings tab, click Language Bar, and then select the Show the
Language bar on the desktop check box.

If the settings are ON & it still doesn't appear, you may have simply
minimized it. Take a look at the right end of the Task Bar to locate a button
that looks like the characters EN in a blue box (if your working in English)
or may simply appear as 2 tiny overlapping rectangles above a downpointing
triangle (the tip box will contain the word 'Restore'). Click it to unhide
the bar.

.... In Control panel, the language bar button is grayed. I followed several
kb articles and none work. PLEASE HELP!!!

I've gone to the regional and language options, clicked details and under
preferences the language bar isn't highjlighted. I've looked everywhere for
theEN icon and the little triangles, nothing.

Here are the instructions for the displaying the Language Bar:

-Find the file C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEMS\ctfmon.exe
-Right click on the icon and click OPEN
-The Windows Language Bar should appear in the taskbar
-If the Language Bar does not appear, right click on the task bar and go to
Toobars and select Language Bar
