I did try this and it worked temporarily. The permanent cure, (In Vista)
was to go to Start: on the Right Side, under Control Panel, there is choice
for DEFAULT PROGRAMS. Click it, and then Click ASSOCIATE A FILE TYPE OR
PROTOCOL WITH A SPECIFIC PROGRAM. Scroll down all the way practically to the
bottom. Highlight the MAILTO (MailTo Protocol). Then near the upper right it
says "Change Program". Once you click that, the choices for the Mail To
should come up. This worked for emailing. I am not 100% sure, though, if
this is the absolute answer to your problem, but I do hope that it helps.

hey man you are genius. I was struggling for 4 months dealing with this
problem. I read your post a long time ago, but the problem was, it was to big
deal for me to do all the steps you say. I barely speak english and the steps
to follow were was truly outstanding and comprehensible. I've already sent
some emails thru Microsoft outllook 2007 and no problems yet. Hope it's
solved. Thanks and god bless you for your help.

I tried going to folder options for the mailto and then go to advanced (using
office 2003) and my system is telling me that the file is not located.

I tried to browse for it on the microsoft office cd and it wont find it.
The .....outlook.exe"-c IMP.note/ m "%1" file

Is there anything else that I can try? It used to work. I also try to type
'mailto' under run and it says that it isn't valid.

That's because, as I said in response to your other post on the same subject,
that you neglected to include the space in front of "-c". I also notice now
that you transposed the "m" and "p" in "ipm.note" left out the space after
that parameter, and incorrectly added one before "m". The correct command is

"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12\outlook.exe" -c ipm.note /m "%1"

You need all the punctuation and spaces.

This time, I copied and pasted your string and it still says, 'the specified
program could not be found' sorry it took so long to get back to you, but I
was working many hours and didn't have time to work on it. This is an
annoying problem cause I can't email photos anymore, I have to change the
program to outlook express, so it will bring up a window with the smaller
photos, then I copy them all and then save attachments to desktop., then
attach them from there to my email.

Am I missing a file or something?

Do you have Outlook 2003 installed on the PC?
