How do I get messages in my Inbox to show that I replied to them?

In outlook express it would put an icon next to messages in my inbox that I
replied to. In outlook 2003, I cannot tell which messages I replied to, and
it doesn't put replies into my sent box. How do i get an icon to appear next
to the messages i reply to?

The small "envelope" to the left of the message changes:
closed
Unread
open Read
open with left-pointing purple arrow Replied to
open with right-pointing blue arrow Forwarded

The icon should change when you reply to a message...unless you're talking
about a Hotmail account. In that case, there is no way to tell when you've
replied to a message.
