How do I get auto refresh, and a pop-up notifying me of new mail?

Hi! I just got Windows XP and this version of Outlook. My OLD OE had a
pop-up envelope showing me when I got mail even when I wasn't in my mailbox.
I thought that was standard... however this new set-up is NOT automatically
refreshing, nor is it showing me with the little icon when I have mail. :P

Any ideas?
