Dave

Hi
I am trying to format my hard drive after picking up a
virus, but instead of going to start, shutdown, restart in
ms-dos, and then "format c:" like i have done in many
other operating systems, i cant get to ms-dos. I have
tried going through command prompt but that doesnt work...
because im already running windows! Any help would be
appreciated!

I pressume you are wanting to reinstall windows aswell if you are formatting drive C

Reboot your computer, with your windows 2000 CD in the CD-Rom drive. You will then be able to choose to format that drive before you install

Hope that helps

Dave,

If you used the NTFS format for your hard drive you can't format the hard
drive from dos.
If you want to install WIN2000 you can do the following:
Restart your system.
Enter the BIOS.
Make the CD-rom the first boot device.
Save and close your BIOS. (the system will resart)
Press any key when prompt to boot from CD.
WIN2000 Set-up will start.
Start a new installation
When you need to choose a partion to install WIN2000 on, delete the old
partion.
Create a new partion
Choose a partion to Instal Win2000 on.
If this is a new or not formatted partion the set up will format it for you.

Follow the the instruction and finish the set-up.
Win2000 is installed on your system.

Regarts,
Jongman
