how do i format my endnotes in alphabetical order?

my boss is writing a grant in a seperate document from his list of
references. Is there a way that i can copy the references to the end of the
grant document, keep them in alpha order and use the endnote function in the
grant document?
 
These are not endnotes but a numbered reference list. See the appropriate
section ("I need to put my endnotes in alphabetical order") in
