My roomate's PC has been hit currupted. I wanted to format
his C: (hard drive) through windows and through the
command prompt, without success.

How can I proceed to format his harddrive and then

.
the short answer is that you can't format the root drive
in windows while windows is running, you need either to
get into dos, with the use of a boot disk, but you should
be able to just boot from the CD and the options will
include format

Hi Tim:

You should simply be able to boot the computer off of the CD and two or
three screens into the setup, you will have the option to format the drive.
