I uninstalled a non-compatible ESB Tuner from my HP Notebook and in teh
process seem to have damaged a registry entry that prevents me from using my
CD Drive.

On the device manager page under properties for the CD device I get the
following error message

Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration
information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)

Click 'Check for solutions' to send data about this device to Microsoft and
to see if there is a solution available.

Any advice?
cheers

Try uninstalling the drive in Device Manager, then reboot.

I dont have a good restore point & dont want to have to reinstall from
scratch unless I have no option.

Particually as I cant see my cd drive at the moment.

Have you tried booting to Safe Mode, choosing Last Good....?
