I have 2 XP pro disks, one for each of my notebooks.

I'm moving to a new HD in one of the notebooks and want
to wipe the drive clean and do a fresh install.

How can I find out whcich license belongs to which PC?
When I did the install (over a year ago) I never bothered
to write down which was which. They are identical so the
WPA probably wouldn't have given me a problem anyway but
I'd like to stay legal and make sure that I don't
accidentally end up with the same license on 2 computers.

PS - I don't want to do any hack or illegal thing to
bypass the copy protection.

There's a freeware app called magic jelly bean I believe, that will get the
key from the registry for you.

| Sorry that;s the ID not the cd key - apologies

From your description, it sounded as if you were looking for CD keys used when
you install XP.

You can find the ID by going to Control Panel > System. It's on the General tab
(the last item under "Registered to"). But that won't help sort out which key
goes with which XP installation.
