How do I export Outlook folders to new computer?

G

Guest

I have a new laptop supplied by my company. I wish to copy all the folders
and the files within them I created on my personal laptop to this new one. I
use regular Outlook, not Outlook Express. My personal computer uses Office
XP Professional, this one uses Office 2003. Another question is if I bought
the Professional version can I load that onto another computer without
violating license laws. If I may, and can't find my discs, is there a way to
download the change from Microsoft. Do they have a record of my having
registered?

Thanks in advance.

1) You can copy over the pst-file. For detailed instructions see;

2) Depends on your license. For retail; most likely for OEM; no. Read your
EULA to be sure

3) No, Microsoft doesn't offer a download service. Contact your local
retailer for replacement CDs

The file you need is your Personal Folders file (*.pst) It's where all the
mail, calendar, contacts etc are stored.

Take a look at these pages for info on Outlook data backup or transfer:
http://www.slipstick.com/config/backup.htm
http://www.howto-outlook.com/Howto/backupandrestore.htm
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/assistance/HA010771141033.aspx

The rest of your question is unclear. Your license is good for a single
installation of Office. You can uninstall it from one PC and install it on
another, but certainly not if you don't have the disks. No Office files are
available for download. Only updates.
