How do I export Local Folder messages from Outlook Express to Outl

I have just set up Outlook 2003 as my default email program with the
connector to MSN/Hotmail. I was using Outlook Express v6.0 and am trying to
import messages stored in Outlook Express Local Folders. When I try to import
by selecting File,Import... in Outllook 2003 as Help suggests one or two of
the local folders appear within the MSN folder but no messages are imported.
Is there a better way to move these messages?

Thanks "DL". I tried going both ways without success but what I discovered
was since I had added my MSN account in Outlook 2003 it became the default
for all message delivery. When I was attempting the Import from OL or the
export from OE both were trying to move the folders into the MSN Online
Mailbox which failed. I changed my default messages destination to a .pst in
Outlook then did the import in OL which worked perfectly. All contacts,
message folders, messages and rules were brought over. I then changed the
default destination back to my MSN account and everything is working.

My messages on the server were picked up by Outlook. Local Folders are not
available in Outlook. How do I access them? Exporting from OE or importing
into OL does not pull this in.

Afraid I dont know what you mean
What are you meaning by Local Folders?
You go on to say your mail was on the server and downloaded to OL

If your mail was in OE exporting to OL would have moved msgs to OL

I was running OE 6.0 to access my hotmail account. To minimize the storage on
the server OE allows Local Folders (on the hard disk) where a folder
hierarchy can be created and messages stored in these folders.

Using the connector I switched to using Outlook 2007 (OL)
Whatever was on the hotmail server is available in OL. But folders on my
disk with messages is not available in OL. If I attempt Import from OL, the
dialog never allows me to pick up the .dbx files corresponding to my Local
Folders on my hard disk. Exportng from OE it provides for selecting these
Local Folders but nothing happens after selection and export - there is no
confirmation of what has happened success or failure.

Local Folders with messages in them were accessible from OE but now they are
unavailable in OL. Not a good migration path.

Hope this is clear.
Thanks for responding

I have to confess I only used OE for a short period, and never with Hotmail

I believe there are problems in exporting the folder hierarchy from OE to OL
PS Importing msgs to OL alters the date settings, which may be important to
you, Exporting from OE doesnt.

Do these folders not reflect the contents of Hotmail? If not, can you not
copy the contents of these folders to the regular Outlook Express folders
and then import from Outlook?

Brilliant. Moving folders did not work. But I created folders in OE under
Hotmail and moved messages into each folder and it worked and OL pulled it in
from the Hotmail server!
Thanks a Ton
