how do I export dates from Outlook to Excel in date format

I'm trying to export Outlook Calendar information to an Excel spreadsheet.
The Outlook dates become text format on transferring them (eg 3/9/2005
becomes '3/9/2005) which means that they don't act as dates in Excel - can't
sort them, use them in formulae etc. Is it possible to export directly into
date format?

Why not select the column, go to format/cells and change the catagory to a
date. I just tested and it works and sorts fine after that.

Thanks for that, but I have tried reformatting the column as you suggested
but the format stays the same. Sorting the column s/till puts 2/10/2005
after 17/10/2005.
