Select the word, format>font, use the underline style field to apply a
double underline

To add to what Greg and Dian have said, the keyboard shortcut for double
underline is Ctrl+Shift+D.

HA...thanks Suzanne. I KNEW there was a shortcut...but it's been too
long since I used it to remember and I was too lazy to fight the
shortcut help to try to find it. ;-)

I found it the easy way: Tools | Customize | Keyboard and select Format |
Double Underline; the shortcut is displayed.
