How do I ditch that pesy office assistant. I really despise him!!!!!!!!

I have had to purge that little creep several times throughout the
years as a result of re-loads of office 97 to overcome various hangups.

MS does NOT make it intuitively evident as to how to permanently purge
the creep from fresh reinstallation of Word and Excel.

Please, someone, refresh my memory.
