How do I display comments (words) as my data in a pivot table?

I have some data that requires the following in a pivot table, in this order:

Store name, date of call, comments from the call. In other words, store name
and date of call are columns, and we need the comments to be the data. These
comments are non-numeric and I want them to come in as they are entered in
the database rather than meaningless numbers. Any ideas?

Data items in the pivot can only be text. You can add the comment
field as a Row item and it will display you comment accordingly.

Excel automatically assumes anything in the data area should be
summed, counted, etc.
