How do I delete previous calendar entries

I want to delete previous calendar entries from a certain date as I want to
synchronise my mobile phone to my PC and don't want unnecessary items
included. I tried Autoarchiving via instructions on Help screen but it
didn't delete them from my calendar. Any other ideas?
 
Choose to view the calendar items as list ordered by date
menu: VIEW / CURRENT VIEW / ALL APPOINTMENTS
click on the date field to sort by date, then select the ones you want to
get rid of and simply delete them...
