How do I customise the File New command?

Using Word 2003 Pro, when I do File, New, a New Document task pane opens up
on the right hand side. Then I have to click "on my computer" to see a
selection of my templates.

I would like to have File, New go straight to the selection of my templates.
How do I customise Word so that the New Document Task Pane doesn't appear?
