How do I create Word downloadable document as a liok

was wondering how I can create Word or PDF downloadable documents such as I
have seen with other sites:


Where you click on the "Word" icon and download the article in Word. This
would be a good assist for us to put our training curriculums on! Is that a
special software, or can I do it with Office XP I also have Front Page?

Both file types will be displayed in the browser if the user click a link, and have the associated
application installed. To do this just import the document into your current open FP web and then
create a link to it.

If you want the users to download the file first, then you have to place a note next to the link
instructing them to right click and then choose save.

You need to have an open web.
Import the Word or PDF file and create a normal hyperlink to the file from your
web page.

With Word files, the user can click the link and the file will usually open in
their MS Word application. Or if they don't have Word there is a Word viewer
available at www.microsoft.com

Same with PDF's - the file will open in the Adobe reader (available from
www.adobe.com)

Otherwise you will need to "zip" the file with WinZip or other compression tool
and link to that file, which will force the download dialogue to appear and begin
downloading and will prompt for saving to hard disk.

The default action is the attempt to open the PDF in the reader, or a Word file
directly in MS Word if available or the viewer if available, otherwise your users
might get the "Open with....?" dialogue prompting for an application to open the
word or pdf file if they don't have either at minimum the pdf viewer or word
viewer.

You will need an image of the Word icon that you use for your anchor.
