How do I create Personal.xlsb

Windows XP Professional
Office 2007 Enterprise
Roaming Profiles with QAT not able to be customized

I first have a new Book1.xlsx open.

I have a Personal.xls (that has all my 2003 macros) in the ...../XLSTART
subdirectory.

I have tried to create a Personal.slxb according to Ron de Bruin and I seem
to be adding the "dummy" macro to Personal.xls.

Whenever I have entered "Devloper", "Macros" I see my macros, including the
first time I opened excel 2007.

Can/should I rename Personal.xls to Personal.xlsb

What am I doing wrong trying to create Personal.xlsb by creating a "dummy"
macro?

Hi Scott

On the View tab use unhide in the window group to unhide your personal.xls that is in this folder

C:\Documents and Settings\Ron\Application Data\Microsoft\Excel\XLSTART
In Vista look here
C:\Users\Ron\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Excel\XLSTART

Then do a SaveAs as xlsb and be sure that you save it that folder.
Remove the personal.xls from the xlstart folder

I hoped it would be this easy.

I forgot this

You must also hide the personal.xlsb Scott
On the View tab use hide in the window group

When you close Excel it will ask you if you want to save the file

Thanks again.
I understand all the Personel.*** need to be hidden files.
I had renamed the Personel.xls and created a Personel.xlsb by creating a
dummy macro. I was going to copy the macros from xls to xlsb. Using save as
will work much better.

Now I need to work around the Roaming Profile situation where our IT
disabled custonixing the QAT. I have read some articles here and have
started on this process.

Thanks again!

I have printed this and a couple of other articles linked to this.
I am trying to get some "Rush" work done and will get on this later today.
I'll let you know how I do on this thread.

BTW, this "Rush" is a result of others procrastanation.
