how do i create hyperlink from range of filename

i have a big collume range of file names (documents list) which i want to
create hyperlink to.
 
Say in column A we have cells like:

C:\x.txt

with the path and filename. In B1 enter:

=HYPERLINK(A1,A1) and copy on down.
